Thought I'd mention Mary Hansen and Robert Wallis, both dead.
Mary Hansen was from Queensland. She was hit by a car or a truck turning into Finsbury Square (London), probably over her, on 9th December 2002.

Robert Wallis was a farmer from Oxfordshire. He was about to leave for Australia for his annual Sydney to Perth ride, which he does in summer. He was hit from behind turning into his farm on 31 December or thereabouts. I met him in December and he told me about the amazing people he met on the road in Oz.
Stay alive, you're less trouble that way.

My ex boss, Brian Walker, was killed on Friday night. Not quite sure how, but there were no bikes involved. Cars are dangerous too.
