  1. I have had no problems with around 1k miles last season on the same shoes/pedals. I start riding on the trainer and my left ankle starts killing me after 30ish minutes and is sore for the next 2 days. I know im running cheap pedals/shoes (nashbar combo with look style pedals) but I rode alot on this setup over the riding season with no problems. Anyone have this issue when they start on a trainer? I have had 0 injuries ever to either ankle. And I ride a pretty decent amount on the street and never had a problem. This is my first year on a trainer.

I just bought new pedals and shoes. I got impact pedals and some nice PI shoes. I am hoping this fixes the problem because at this point I cant ride at all inside.

Well I had my first experience as well with a trainer about 3 years ago and experienced the same thing. I sought out a trainer in the area and he explained to me that when you transition from riding on a road with complete mobility of the bike when standing up and sitting down and all the other factors of riding outside, you tend to try and compensate inside. Meaning that when you ride inside your pedal stroke can change. He just told me to fix the problem by going back to the basics and focusing on my strokes for the begining (5 to 10 minutes) of the ride. That seemed to solve my problem.
    Good luck!!
