Hello all,
Both my parents were good sprinters (as in running sprinting, not cycling), so i guess that they had a lot of fast twitch fibers in their legs. Would this stand me in good stead to become a decent cycling sprinter, since they will have past on their genes to me?

In a word, yes.
But you will need to still train them to get them to do what you need them to with stand
