Huh??...Serbia has one of the richest histories of violence in the world. I can imagine if you went round Belgrade asking strangers sarcastically if they believe in Santa... you might provoke a response. Just hope you're carrying a weapon.

I won't argue about "one of the richest histories of violence in the world"... That's very dubious interpretation of our history (especially recent history, which was very violent and we're not proud of it).
But I will argue about interpretation of my sarcasm... Much worse replies were seen on this forum and there wasn't cursing. If he isn't able to find appropriate sarcasm to reply me, he shouldn't curse. That's culture of speech. That's his rudeness and arrogance.
And I found your metaphor about carrying a weapon and provoking strangers very inappropriate too.
You've never been in Belgrade? Haven't you?

No...that's why I used the "doing" word - "imagine".

But I wasn't really trying to single out Belgrade or Serbia for that matter. So I apologize for wording it that way.

It really applies to anywhere in the world. If you sarcastically and mockingly imply to an adult, to whom you've never met, that their opinion is the equivalent of a naive child's... most adults around the world will take offense... especially when their opinion in the first place didn't deserve such a judgment.

No.. I'm guessin' its a riverboat type ferry. Must be an NC thing...😕

Though Roxy Music did have that "We [censored] ourselves" look about them...🙄

riverboat ferry ?!! makes no sense but I'll go with it.

I think the spelling is "fairy"... unless I'm missing from this unexpected extended debate on the word "ferry" that everyone already gets that...😕

And apologies to CH for being a big part in hijacking this thread (unintentionally).

I understand. And that's why I used "metaphor" term.

His response was very immature... This is forum... Not an eye to eye discussion (you must admit, situation creates communication discourse). Do I have to measure every word in my reply if we've seen all sorts of nastiness on this forum.
And, I must ask you, why are you defending his rudeness?

  6. Calm down fellas : Andrija doesn't normally cause offence and I'm sure in this instance I'm sure no offence was intended by Andrija's reply.

TTF - is he's big enough and articulate enough to take care of himself.

As Indurain would say - tranquillo, folks.

    Let's get back to Basso.

Because it was an understandable response to your initial rudeness IMO. But you don't seem to see that you were rude. Or is there some informal unwritten rule of internet forum discourse that I've never heard of... that sarcasm can only be retalliated using like sarcasm?

Plenty of people are rude on here. It is really nothing that uncommon. But you continue to protesteth about people being rude to you after you were rude to them first. Seems to me you need to take the log out of your eye before you start taking offense at the splinter in others'. And if people call you names... so what? If its out of proportion rude... people observing are going to notice it. But to run around feeling slighted that someone hit you back after you punched them, doesn't hold a lot of argument sway, if you're requesting an apology. Just my 2c.

My suggestion would be to use emoticons to show that you are not meaning your comments seriously. If you had used either ":p" or "🙄", chances are that you would not have provoked a confrontation.

    Okay Lim...

Andrija... I'm sorry for hurting your feelings. I didn't mean to offend you. I really have no business getting involved in this anyway. I am Australian. Please understand that my forum enjoyment is partly reliant on stirring up trouble with people not noticing that I am doing it hopefully.

I am sure that you are a nice person... and that your attempt at sarcasm was probably just an attempt to fit into the sarcastic culture here.

    I'm calm.

  10. Calm too.

You don't have to apologise Cranky... It wasn't you who cursed. Discussion with you is intellectually stimulative in some way.

About TheDarkLord's note about emoticons... I think this sarcasm was transparent enough even without them. And I find Santa comparison very appropriate to belief that Simoni isn't doping.

    Here we're back on topic.

Apologies to dragging this discussion, but this is where miscommunication happens. The sarcasm may seem to be transparent, but another person may interpret it as being poked fun at and being insulted; using emoticons can potentially reduce this sort of miscommunication; just my opinion.

    Cranky,
Thank you so much, I knew it wasn't right, but I couldn't pull fairy out of anywhere in my head!!! It really was frustrating.

    Adjrija,
You insinuated that I was a child in my thinking. I responded in the manner in which I saw fit. If you need to see me as childish or immature to sleep at night, go right ahead. You threw a jab, and I threw an uppercut. Maybe if you don't like getting punched hard, you shouldn't start the fight. Think what you will, our two actions are identical in their intent. We both wanted to expose the other as somehow being less than with our comments. I don't play the "you hit too hard, therefore you are more wrong game." I believe intent is what matters, and yours and mine were identical.

As to Simoni, nothing you say will change that I like him.

    I guess more correctly, I should have written: "I do believe in the go [censored] yourself fairy, does that count?😉 😉 😉 😄 😄 😄 😄 :p :p :p :p :p 😉 😉 😉 😉 😄 😄 😄 😄 :p :p :p :p

Would that have been more appropriate in addressing Andrija?🙂

This was not addressed at you Dark or anything you have said. I just posted off of your post but am not making that comment at you.

    So in summation:

    TFF is a grown up
    Andrija is a nice lady
    Simoni is loved and hated
We still don't know if Basso should get amnesty

But I don't think guys should use smilies. Makes them look a bit gay...🙄 😄 🙂 🙄 :o 🙁Image in Amnesty for Basso?

Look, I go overboard at times because I just like to. I think vulgar wit is kind of funny and I realize that it is offensive. I am sure you are a nice person. I am not.

I apologoze if I offended you.
