I am headed out to the big island next week with my family. I have been scouting out a few riding opportunities, Waipio valley road (slide 11) looks pretty intense, maybe I will just hike it. I am pretty sure that I can find enough challenge down there without doing anything too crazy - besides, I am a bit nervous that the bike I am renting doesn't have enough low gear for my mass.
Those routes are crazy steep, the steepest sections of short climbs in my approach %20. Descending above %20 , I get nervous about my brakes overheating and going over the handlebars.
