My cycling club is about to invest in an AMB electronic timing system to sort out finishing order in races. Every rider gets a transponder to put on their bike (will cost about $100 each to hire the transponder). The whole system will cost about $20,000, but thanks to a government grant the Club will be able to afford it.
In theory the system sounds great, it will certainly ease the load of finish line officials. Has anyone used this system? What do you think of it?
