  1. Hey, I was just curious if anyone knew of a site of amateur cycling times?
My freind is a fellow cyclist and he asked me if I can help him look for times... no luck so far.

He is a beginner and wants to know where he stands against other amateurs.

Anyone know a site that has amateur cycling times?

If not.... what are/where some of your times??? Time and distance.

    THANK YOU!

    times for what??

    Time trials or road races?

road races are open to wide changes according to many factors. TT's may be slightly more similar. check this out if you want some TT times:
    www.atta.asn.au

for crits here in perth, average speeds for B grade would be 37-38kph, 44-45 kph for A grade.

You gotta crawl before you can walk.

You gotta train in different ways in order go fast in a TT.

And a TT is wholly different than a mass-start bike race.

    All from standing stand.

kilometer time? 72 seconds to 76 seconds

    a 3,000 meter time? 3:55ish

    a 10,000 meter time?

    a 15,000 meter time?

and a 40,000 meter time------shoot for one hour, whereas a strong master can do 53-54 minutes depending on weather/altitude w/o drugs.

pros could be 46-50 minutes for 40k TT effort.

These times will vary tremendously on the athlete, their cycling maturity and talent.

The madness is that you must vary your workouts in order to improve times at all distances mentioned.

eg: flying 500s to help in the kilo.
Standing starts, jumping up to 100 meters

You can't get fast by repeating the same event over and over. You must break it down into smaller pieces, then perfect each one separately.

Get a coach if you are at all serious. Good luck.

  5. Most of the local races in your area will probally have results posted on the web somewhere. Find a local club and ride with them to find out where these races are. As far as finding a bike club talk to your local bike shop owner, they may be familiar with any clubs in the area.
