Was very wet, with an early start I managed Sgurr Choinnich
by 7am, followed in quick succession by Sgurr a' Chaorachain
30 minutes later. I descended to the north and the clouds
made a mistake by parting for the first time that day to
give a view eastwards to Maoile Lunndaidh. It looked quite
imposing with a long reascent - 400m from the peat hagged
base. I briefly thought about giving it a miss, I was
drenched either from the outside by rain, or the inside by
sweat and didn't feel up to par. I decided to go for it, the
day was still early and I could take my time if necessary.
It wasn't that bad after all! The descent was by the NW
ridge (Fuar-tholl Mor) and a steep final drop towards the
River Meig which was in spate, now I should have realised
the watershed was to the west (the Meig flows west, the
river to the west flows north) but didn't. The river was too
deep and too wide. Following the south bank to the west (and
the watershed but not by plan!) I then couldn't cross
another river flowing from the hills into the Meig, this
required a diversion back towards the hills to find a
suitable crossing (jumping) point. The Meig was crossed in
the same manner. Track reached and easy walk back. My gear
is now dripping onto the garage floor...............
