  1. Currently training/sleeping at about 2300 ft. elevation. Going to a race (mtn. bike - 1.5 - 2 hrs.) at about 4,300 ft. elevation. It's near family so I'll be in the area about 3 days before I race. I'll be pre-riding/training at the 4,300 foot level. But I have 2 options as far as where I sleep at night for those 3 days: one is at 2500 ft. and the other is at 4000 ft.. My understanding is that a large elevation change can initially create an ADVERSE effect before the body acclimates. So my thinking is that if my body can handle a 1700 foot adjustment in 3 days that would be good. But if not, or if there might be an adverse effect, then I guess I should stick with the 2500 ft. lodging. Would welcome any factual data anyone has. Or if you think I'm completely nuts for even thinking about this that's okay too. 😉

  2. I wouldn't think that three days would be sufficient to see much adaptation one way or the other. I'd sleep where the social life is the best.

  3. Stay where it's most convienent. Although erythropoietin levels will begin to increase with the change in altitude, 3 days wont be long enough to feel the benefits.
