I am a dutch cycler 22 years old, who trains allways to the max... but i heard it was bad. I'll explain... i got a one particular round for me that starts and ends at same spot.. my home. It is exactly 52km long and i love it to ride, with a little, very little climbing sumtimes, but no more then 15 meter climbing in once, thouigh pretty ... um.. like 10% or more... well, whatever. I don't do it winters and when I begin in march, I start first time 30.. second 33, third time, 35 fourth 36km/h and then i am at my beginning stadium and doing it once every two days I get better and better.... but the last month it is just a maater of seconds... i got allways stuck at 1.22.00 .... I mean.. the last 15 times in august I allways manage to go between 1.22 and 1.23.. no matter what (like 38km/h) Even when I have no clock or watch or speedmeter... allways between 1.22 and 1.23 hours...
How do I train?? just.... I klick the stopwatch when i leave home.. and klick it again when I arrive.. average heartbeat of 170-180.. (max is 202). I have heard of interval training but that's not what i do.. why I can't get to 1.20 or less???? Can you analize my training described here??
Off the record... midsummer I ride sumtimes sum tour of 100-150km... easy going.. like 33-36 km/hour (150 heartbeates/min) And i climb one week in Les Alps... Alpe d'Huez, col du glandon and more.... alpe d'huez climbing in 1.05 is pretty cool I hearde for a guy of 1,90 and 95KG (!!) (no fat though, i got 7% fatpercentage.. i am basketballer too.. that explains a bit )
Well, anyone can advise me? To get 1.20? Or shouldn't I train like that...
edit: I ride about 4000-5000km a year, no competition, just for fun, in my own or in company with frinends riding behind me
