I just received a Specialized Allez Pro E5 frameset (my old Epic bit the dust and Specialized replaced it). When the frame came in, the headset was not installed and the technician at the shop (a Specialized dealer) said he had not seen anything like it.
The frame is advertised as having an integrated headset, but I've read that different manufacturers have different meanings for that term. The headset provided looks like the one described in this one-pager regarding the Specialized Roubaix frame:
Does anyone know if the headset for the Roubaix is the same for the Allez Pro E5? Do I need Specialized's own headset tool or is there a compatible? Are there any after-market headsets that work with this frame or is it different enough to require the Specialized set?
If anyone can help I'd appreciate it - in the meantime I'll be checking with some of the other LBS around, thanks!
