All Clad or Emeril.

All Clad used to have a factory somewhere in PA. It could have moved since
was there, though...it was quite a few years ago. Best deal ever was
buying stuff at a factory sale there. The stuff wasn't perfect enough for
retail sale, but certainly not as beat up as it gets in normal use.

All Clad is in Canonsburg, PA. I don't know if they manufacture their
cookware there or farm some or all of the work overseas. Interestingly, the
company developed and patented the process for bonding sheet stocks of
dissimillar metals, and produces the raw material for the minting of U.S.
coinage. I doubt seriously that that part of their production is done in
China!

You just never know who owns a company these days... apparently All Clad is
now owned by a French Company, Group SEB. They bought it last summer. Before
that, it was owned by an Irish company, Waterford Wedgwood, who had acquired
it in 1999. Maybe next year a German company will buy it? ;-)

A fair percentage of the items sold under the All Clad name are made in
China, I assume under contract. At one time all of the multiple layer fully
clad pieces were made in Pennsylvania, and anything else, including the
aluminum disk bottom cookware (like very large stockpots, etc.) and all the
utensils were made in China. I have no idea if that is still true.

The cookware company is at www.allclad.com.
The parent clad metal company is at www.cladmetals.com.

Note that the two companies, All Clad and Clad Metals share the same street
address, though they list different phone numbers (as I assume their
customer bases are completely different). The Clad Metals web page has not
been updated to reflect the new French owner Group SEB.

I just looked at them both. Emeril is made in China and All-Clad appears to
be made in USA, since it had no country of origin obvious on the box.

The other big difference is the emeril stuff has a disk bonded to the
bottom, but not up the sides while the All Clad conducting layer is not
visible but is between two layers of stainless, and may go up the side of
the pans a ways.

The All Clad was more than double the price.
