Noticed that Aldi's have an outdoor gear selection coming up on April 8th. Included are a waterproof jacket for £14-99 and Boots for £17-99. Anyone had any prior experience of their stuff and what its like? I have been in the hunt for some boots and at that price they look a steal?
I have quite fancied the Salomon Mid GTX for £80 but haven't been anywhere that sells them so have not been able to try them on - anyone know the ones I mean? Would take a gamble mail order just wondered if I should buy a size larger as advised eslewehere on this newsgroup.

Got a microfleece base layer from there just before Christmas - quality material, with two Lycra side panels to aid breathability - also a pair of Thinsulate padded cold weather pants - top was about £7 I think, the pants around £10.
- wore them both for the first time on a 12 mile circular around and over the Cheviot - the pants kept my legs as warm as toast and the top stayed bone-dry - £ for £ the best kit I ever bought.
Best if you can get to a store and touch the product first though to make sure you're happy with it, especially with boots - but be there early !

I would not buy boots unless I've tried them on. The advice given was wrong. I have two pairs of boots, both different sizes, manufacturers don't always follow the same sizing. Can't help you with the Salomon boots but I've had two pairs of Salomons (Adventure Trek 7?) - they're comfortable, require no breaking in but are not the most durable.
