30 year old mom only been riding 3 years. Your an inspiration.

  3. I'm just a young 51. Someone suggested to me to stop riding (too dangerous) five years ago. Like a fool, I listened. Bought a new bike last year after meeting two customers in the 55 - 65 range, one who does triathalons and the other who does club centuries. For now I'm just commuting and lovng it.

    GET A BIKE THAT FITS!

  4. Age 26. Started racing at 12. My mom raced until she turned 55, and still rides several thousand miles a year (She's 58 I believe).

The whole traffic thing seems pretty tame compared to my other sport - winter mountaineering. Besides, I've been on the road long enough to deal with a whole spectrum of idiots... just think for them.

    - n -

ps - Im the middle of seven kids...

  5. we all do it for different reasons and goals. still, isn't it interesting that through all stages of life, the common thread remains the same? there is nothing so pure and basic as a good pump to clear your head and get you closer to what's important. at 54, i've ridden steadily for ten years. i've had to take a few seasons off for some cancer clean-out, but i find that 'clipping in' gets better as time goes by.

  6. Like my wife said the other day, "44 you're 44 now, that's the downhill side to 50. She loves me.

Cycling about 135 miles a week during nice weather.

  7. I’m 37.

Here in Monterrey, Mexico, definitively the crowded category in the MTB XC racing circuit is between 30 and 39 years old.

Why? Nobody knows, but I have my theory: at that period of the life cycle the body starts to react different, slower, heavier, so, you start doing something to refurbish your self, and if you can have a hell of the time wile you are doing it, much better. At the bottom line, everybody gets a bike and races as if you where betting your life on it (aren’t you really?)

    Regards

    You are such an inspiration!

Keep it up and I do hope that a lot more will come across your post and be inspired as well.

  9. Hey! I'm 36 almost 37 years old! and in the best form ever!

  10. 21 here, and loving knowing that I can still be biking decades from now. Thanks for the inspiration, everyone!

  11. I'm a lurker..... but I am 22.

  12. Im 38 going on 20 :p I have just joined this forum so ,hello all.
also i am returning to cycling after a 15 year hiatus,
fell prey to lazyness drinking and smoking.

  13. The majority of people I have met through clubs and on the roads are in their mid 30's all the way up to 65! I rode my first century with a man who was 65, I met him at another event while he was pacing me!! I am 24 and in top shape right now. He was indcredible! He gave me inspiration and proved that this sport can take you on a wonderful journey through life.

God Bless everyone in this forum for having such enthusiasm for the sport and for inspiring those of us who are just beginning to experience what cycling can really do for the mind, body, and soul!!

  14. thats the great thing about clubs, meeting people that maybe you wouldnt "click" with in daily life.
my group has about 20 members from 35 to 60 years of age.
theres alot of old school knowledge there too

  15. I really love riding with clubs. Your so right in that it gives you a way to interact with other people that you might not normally.

  16. I am 45 last year I rode 75 miles with my dad on his 75th birthday. He has been riding for 30 years.

  17. 33 riding about 160mi a week. Hope to keep riding 'till I'm 90 like my grandfather.

I'm 14 too! I've already decided that I will ride my bike
for the rest of my life.

  19. Got my start at 13 when my dad got me a bike. Used to draft behind him. Now I am almost 30, and still getting stronger.

Good family, lifetime sport. Thanks dad ! ...who still rides more than me (being retired helps him).
