  1. I am in the process of planning a long distance (Cross Country)
bicycle ride. I am looking for any advice and/or suggestions to help
out in this endeavor. Examples would be what to carry ((Tent,
Sleeping bag, Food, Clothes ETC)) I have a relatively good idea of
what I need to have but would love to hear from anyone that has done
    this in the past.

So far I already have the bike....a Trek 3900 and am considering the
YAK BoB trailer for carrying the equipment.

    THANKS GUYS!!!!!!

You are starting from Lincoln? That's not cross-county. Are you going
west or east from there? When are you leaving? Weather could change
quite a bit depending upon the date. Do you need to be near places you
can buy supplies? Are you planning to do all dirt, road, or both? Have
you done something like this before?

Here's a link to an actual route: http://www.transamtrail.com/

    Good luck.

  4. Yes I am starting from Lincoln. From here plans are to head to Tampa
and from there to head north through the Blue Ridge and into Maine. I
am planning on leaving in Late August and plan on spending the winter
with friends in Hampton, Virginia before heading out when the weather
braeks for spring. I would like to be places that I can purchase
some type of supplies but I am hoping to carry most things myself and
only hope to be forced to stop when I need to re-supply.

It will probably be a little bit of road, dirt and gravel roads on
this one. I have never attempted anything like this before but I have
traveled quite extensively. Car, Bus, Train, Motorcycle even
hitchiking. Just never tried it on a bicycle.

And I hope to be either using a credit card or travelers checks.
