Hello everyone, I intend to buy a mtb. I don't want to invest to much money in it, at least for now. I want to ride the bicycle on moderate rough terrain, nothing extreme. I looked at different bikes like: Univega HT 300 Rock Rider 5.1 - 5.2 Merida Matts 10 V What should i choose in this price range. Univega from what i can tell has better components on it but has freewheel not freehub. From what i understand this is not a good thing. Rock Rider i think is a freehub but has cheaper components, like fork, shifters I don't have any opinions on merida matts 10 v
I tuned up a 2011 Univega HT-300 last month and it had a freehub, not a freewheel. I'm not 100% certain but I think that the 2012 HT-300s would probably have freehubs too. The HT-300 was a fairly well put together bike for being a low end MTB. Nothing to get excited about but still good enough that I would trust it to ride. I cannot comment on either of the other two bikes as I have no experience with them at all.
