  1. What is an average ride. coker 25miles? 28 inch 10miles? 26 inch 8miles?
I have been in shape in my younger years when miles did not matter,
only daylight. But now at 44 and 230 pounds What is an average ride for
    out of shape guy?

You might want to peruse this thread called '\"What qualifies as a LONG
    ride?\"' (http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56106).

Find a distance you are comfortable with and ride it regularly and just
grow and keep riding with others, it will make you push yourself.
I Re-started riding almost 2 years ago at 6ft 238lbs and now down to
192lbs and way more endurance but I feel I have a ways to go but never
a dull moment. Work up to the long rides, find a good distance ride and
keep adding on to it plus try to consistently keep your speed up
