  1. I have adjustable dropouts an a Look Carbon Frame, would you
think it better to line the rear wheel up with the seat tube
which makes for a slightly nosier drive. Or would you go for
the wheel being slightly further away on the cassette side
which makes a silent drive ? This puts the wheel amount 4-5
mm off center on the seat tube.

The back wheel must follow the front wheel. If the drive is
noisy in this position then your derailleur needs adjusting
    or the hanger is bent.

The adjusters are there to compensate for poor
framebuilding, or to allow an incorrectly dished wheel to be
used if you are given one in a race, for example.

Yikes....Center the wheel in the rear of the frame, right
behind the seat tube. If it is canted, then the cogset is
too and will not work correctly. These adjustable dropouts
are to move the entire wheel forward or aft, not to tilt it
    one way or another.

  4. I follow what you are saying, but you have no choice in
adjusting the tilt because there are two allen bolts that
hold the aluminum part's that slide back and forth about 1
cm. What I am saying is if the center of the wheel is 4-5 mm
to the cassette side of the seat tube the drive train is
silent. If you center the wheel on the seat tube there is a
tick in 6th gear that can't be adjusted out. I have no
choice but to adjust tilt because both sides slide. Am I
better off with a centered wheel or silent drive train. I
don't see a way to get both.

  5. Or the dish on the wheel (seems likely).
