There was an accident yesterday on the hume highway near picton. A group had just pulled out of the Mobil where
they had stopped for a drink and were heading for home,
riding along the shoulder.
They were clipped by a truck.
The guy who was hit first survived. The next one that was
hit, died in theatre as they couldn't stop the bleeding.
My sincere condolances to the cyclists and families.

a mate was killed by a guy opening his car door. He did 18months for that. did they get the truck driver?

Weather was fine, time was around noon. clear visability.
The rest of the group of cyclists came to the emergency department of the hospital and they were all brightly dressed.
My wife ran the resus for the guy that survived.
We didn't go for our ride this morning. -

No, that was the official charge, Geoff
The same record was applied to the truck driver who killed the triathlete on the GoldCaost last year.
Both were originally charged with Manslaughter, but both were later 'downgraded' to VA, as both were shown to have had clear vision and opportunity to avoid striking the cyclists killed, but couldnt be proven to have consciously gone out of their way to do so
I agree. its a poor moniker for something so disgusting, but that's the stupidity of our legal system for you...
No doubt, the reporting in the evening news or papers will say
"A cyclist died in a collision with a truck yesterday..." leaving people yet again free to interpret that some blame could be apportioned to the cyclist
again, thoughts go out to those left behind to wonder why...
