I saw a road sign somewhere recently which said "A57 CLOSED.
ISTR an announcement many months ago of a closure between Glossop and the Snake summit, but I don't know whether it is still the case.
Anyone shed any light on it? I'd hate to have to detour if I decide to plan a walk in that direction.... -- Gordon

It wasn't closed last week, it was all open and no signs of roadworks.
A quick google reveals thishttp://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/news/newsstory.asp?ID=290 so that might be what you saw. -- Phil Cook looking north over the park to the "Westminster Gasworks"

Road works and resurfaceing. It was tipping it down and washing the laid bed away apparantly so the TRO was extended a few days. It should be open now.
