The A4 through Saltford (between Bath and Bristol) is to be closed for 9
weeks from 17/07/06. Some information is available at the following sites:

Cyclists planning rides in the area should be aware that one of the
effects of the closure will be to prevent the Avon Cycleway (Regional
Route 10) from being ridden in an anticlockwise direction.
After hassling the Highways Agency for information, I have been sent a
map confirming that Manor Road and Lower Fields Lane will be restricted
to one-way traffic during the period of closure. Those who know the
area will appreciate that this restriction makes sense, but it will be a
PITA when planning rides. I've uploaded a copy of the map here:

The orange arrows labelled (2) run along Lower Fields Lane, which is
part of the Avon Cycleway. Manor Road from the A4 to Lower Fields Lane
is also part of the Avon Cycleway. Middlepiece Lane, which will be
closed completely, is also part of route 10. Riders planning to cycle
in a clockwise direction will need to take an alternative route along
Gypsy Lane and Burnett Hill.
