Sunday, June 27: 100k @ 18.7 miles/hour <-- Just did it today. Monday : Easy 30 mile Tuesday: Moderate 40 mile Wednesday: Easy 15 mile Thursday: 10 mile @ TT pace Friday: OFF Saturday: Easy 25 mile morning ride Sunday, July 4: Race Day
The 100K at 18.7 mph sounds really fast. Group, or in your own air? I have never averaged over about 15.5 mph in anything over 25 miles. But then, I get blown away in most every crit I'm in.
There are competing schools of thought on pre-race prep. Some will argue for a 'wake up' session on Saturday that even includes a short max effort. Charmichael argues for that (although he doesn't say anything specific for crits other than that you want to be fully rested).

I had a few drinks on Saturday night so I couldn't get up on time to go ride with the guys in the morning. I ended up riding by myself that day and yes, I was surprised that I rode a little faster than my usual pace.
However I¡¯ve been seeing some significant improvements. It¡¯s been 3-4 months since I started riding my bike, so I¡¯m pretty happy about that. I feel tired from Sunday and yesterday but I still think I¡¯m gonna do ok if I stick with the plan. Kinda nervous though.
