  1. No, not 'Uncle Sam's' one, or the Geordie version, but the Washington north
of Worthing, West Sussex .... the start of my walk this weekend.

Another early start, although earlier than last week having returned to GMT.
However, it was worth it as the weather turned up trumps yet again! Easy
drive east along the A27 and was starting out up the South Downs Way at
6:40am. Reached Chanctonbury Hill soon after sunrise, so had a pleasant
view along with the sheep. Had a coffee and breakfast at the Trig Point,
then ventured further east still on the SDW. Passed south of Steyning Bowl
over Annington Hill down to Botolphs Farm. (point of interest for anyone
walking/cycling over Botolphs bridge along the SDW ..... its closed until
further notice! Unless of course the Council have failed to take the notice
down from the gate above Steyning Bowl)

Anyway, my route wasn't over the bridge so OK. Turned south from near
Botolphs through Coombes, then started west for the return leg. Popped up to
Steep Down for lunch, enjoying views down to the English Channel, then
rejoined my track continuing west along Canada Bottom below Cissbury Ring.
Started to get busy now as Cissbury is a popular walking/cycling/running
area. Soon reached Gallops Farm near Findon village, then up farm tracks to
rejoin the SDW, with a short walk remaining back to the car.

What a fantastic 'summers day' 15 mile outing in November ..... though bet
its not like this next weekend when I am on Great Gable for the Remembrance
    Day service!

Slideshow from along the route at the web address below.
