A Real Pain in the Hip

I'm noticing a pain in my right hip, right around the bone. Is there a fit adjustment that could help with this?

I am. Could that be the cause? I've had some pain in that area for some time; however, it's worsened some, even prior to pushing the bigger gears.

Get a bike fit, or at the very least, get someone with a clue to look at your position on the bike. I see tons of folks out riding and their saddles are too high, their knees bow out, their feet move around, etc. etc. So if it's something easy to spot, that might be enough. A bike fit might reveal more complicated problems like a leg length discrepancy or arch problem. But don't just keep riding through it, try to get it sorted out or you will have more trouble down the line.

It is best to consult a specialist. Ignoring the pain can lead to many order problems that could be dangerous. Also stop riding for a few days if possible before your hip is completely healed.

I agree. Make sure your seat is at the correct height, bike is the right size etc. Overtraining could also be the issue here.

Is it persistent or just started feeling the same. You should seek advice from your doctor before it becomes persistent. If it has just started, then give it time to see whether it will heal. Otherwise you should stop cycling and make sure you heal first.

Of course, you need to be careful. Go to a doctor about it.

It sounds serious. You should stop biking and get it checked out first before resuming.

Oh, does that mean an ill-fitting bike seat can cause hip pains? I am fortunate not to experience that but my husband had suffered severe hip pains before that he needed pain relievers. He couldn't walk straight because his hip was like out of alignment. Truly, this forum is informative. I have learned a lot in my week's stay here and probably more in the days to come.

I've even had it before through these cycling machines for exercising, not a real one.

It can be the body adjusting to the new efforts, either cases I'd be checked by an osteopath, that's what I always do when I have bone or muscle pains.

Wow, I have never heard of such a thing. I am sure it is a real issue. Did you consult a physician about it? I think if you were going to have an injury while bike riding or doing anything else, that you might want to get the correct treatment plan for it.

Sometimes it could be permanent which disallows people to use a bike again, let's hope it's not that, lol.

Come on, to have a permanent injury it would have to be something more serious, those things don't happen that often.
