Hi all:
I'm using an EMS carbon fiber fork. This is the model with the steel steerer tube. In the case of my
particular fork, the steerer tube is only 138mm long.
I've been using an ITM 600 Racing stem. This is a "shaft" style stem that inserts into the
steerer tube.
Today I went to install an ITM 800 Open stem on the bike, but....
it appears the shaft that inserts into the steerer tube on the 800 Open is effectively longer that
the shaft on the 600 Racing stem. In order to "bury" the stem deep enough in the steerer tube to get
the handlebars at the right height - well, actually, a little higher than I'd like them - I have to
put the stem as deep as it will go in the EMS fork.
My question is: Is this OK? That is, is it safe to have the wedge not all the way down to the bottem
of the steerer?
