Laura Harrington was a triathlete before most of us knew what the word meant. She pioneered the sport in Volusia County in the early 1980s, regularly winning events all over the state. She even competed in two Hawaii Ironman Triathlons in the late 1980s, finishing the 1987 race in less than 11 hours.
