  1. Hey all...

I'm new to this site. I am an ex-gymnast and was terribly out of shape from inactivity and poor eating habits. I began taking hour long trips on my bike which is a canondale mountain bike w/road slicks. I was doing a little cross training with biking and running and finally decided why not try a triathlon? I ended up here because my love of bike riding is what got me moving again and led me to start competing in triathlons. I want to learn how to become a better cyclist, but as I've been reading through some of the posts, it seems a little intense. Is there a section of this site that is geared toward newbies? I want to be part of this website, but I'm a little overwhelmed...

    Thanks 🙂

  2. If you have a newbie question, ask anyway😄 , have you considered getting a road bike?

  3. Welcome to the forum! There is nothing specifically for newbies, but if you ask a question you will get a whole forum full of coaches. You just need to filter the BS from the real deal. There are two things that you need to be aware of: Most everone on this forum rides and works before getting on the computer so you might not get an immediate answer to your post. Don't be dismayed if your thread gets hijacked (pulled off topic).

The main thing is don't be afraid to ask. We were all newbies once, and as you can see, even the pros have questions every now and then.

  4. I'm new too - try using the search feature - that helps a lot. there is a lot to filter through, but there is a lot of info already on the board.

I went out and got the Freil book to help me out. It is also intense, but if you're doing triathlon - you are intense! Good luck!
