  1. After a [censored] week at work, strong winds and wet roads today turned out
to be smashing. Cold and dry with no wind. I had to get some new tyres
for the tourer/commuter, I decided to try Panaracer Paselas so pedaled
to Spa Cycles in Harrogate. I took a roundabout route to put some miles
in. What a great day, I was going really well. I got my lunch in
Mollies at Starbeck (Beans on Toast + pot of tea for £2.45) the went to
Spa. Got my tyres, some more VAR tyre levers and a new LED front lamp to
try. Set of home and decided to do a detour to Otley just because I
could. Would add about 8 miles and take me over 100km for the day -
which was the real reason, plus it avoids the Sheepscar Interchange in Leeds

Total distance 66.87miles with consummate ease.

I had an equally satisfying day despite being at work. The whole of Hull
city centre was gridlocked and it was sooooo relaxing to breeze past all the
cagers and buses on my way home :-)

Starbeck.....jeeze, takes me back. I went to school in Harrogate,
cycled to school actually, worked in the George hotel during vacation,
stood on the terraces of Elland watching Joe Jordan and the like and
learnt to drink beer....very, very quickly.

    Happy times.

Then it all went south...to SE London.

    Still...
