get my respect if you can do that with a gear to spare on
anything other than an mtb or the hill east - still a decent
climb but one I've only ever done on the mtb rather than the
road bike - 27mtb gears is cheating on that sort of a hill

The one East. The hill West (Streatley Hill?) used to be on
the course for the Hairy Legs Challenge, I think, but last
year they took the Ridgeway instead, which was a bit easy
and I breezed up it :-)

The hill East is still not an easy one. My bottom gear is
30", the one I used today about 35". Hopefully by Summer I
should be able to climb it using the road cassette on the
'bent which gives me about the same ratios. At present I
have the winter cassette on (when the 'bent isn't bent, that
is) which has a 23 1/2" bottom gear.

So, not particularly hairy-chested, but I'm not displeased,
especially given that I'm carrying luggage.
