Just spent an hour and a half wearing my BUG hat and walking around the campus with the head honcho from estates, another BUG member, and the city council cycling officer.
Plenty of positive outcomes. We have 15 bike lockers to distribute. We have identified three sites for new large scale (20-30 bikes) secure storage, some of which are trivial to implement and others more expensive, and a load of places for new bike racks/signage.
The aim is eventually to have all the secure storage accessible via electronic lock activated by ID card so we can do away with key issuing/deposits and have 'open access'. Some sites are for immediate use, others are for more gradual development.
And Blair will be happy as three new lockers and a sheffield type stand will hopefully be appearing outside the computer centre over the summer..

Damn ... one less excuse for not biking in ;-) We even have showers in our dept. My days are numbered.

But seriously, there will be a significant increase in the visibility of cycle parking over the summer with the new lockers, new racks and a whole bunch of other things happening.
I am also hoping for new signage, including some nice 'cycles may be locked to this railing' signs.
There will also be a new secure store by the Fulton building (probably the first of the improvements to occur). This requires the uplift of some ladders from the store (currently used as a ladder store), moving exisiting sheffield stands inside the store and the issuing of a new padlock and keys.
This will provide secure undercover capacity for between 20-40 cycles right next to the main entrance to that building but also within easy walking distance (50-100m) of the computer centre and the dental school.
