  1. I'm looking for different crankset for the bike I'll soon be aquiring. So I'm looking at all the options....including on ebay (I don't know if that's considered a fau paux in this forum or not) but I was wondering what is considred a lot of miles on the typical component.

For instance, one crankset I was looking at said it had about 2000 miles on it. Is that a lot?

And can you add a third chainring to double crankset? Like if I found a deal on a double set could I then go buy the 3rd ring and attach it?

    😕

2000 isn't much in a crankset if the person isn't lying. Many lie alot. The only way to put a granny ring on a double that does not already have threaded bosses for the small ring is to buy what is called a tripilizer ring that replaces the small ring on a double and then the granny ring bolts to the tripilizer ring, Then you have to try and find a correct length BB spindle. Alot easier to just buy a triple.
