  1. hi i can't find any 34.9mm 8 speed front mech's would it be ok to use a 9 speed instead ๐Ÿ˜•

    Any help would be great ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I am assuming when you say front mech you are referring to your front derailleur.

    You should be fine running a 9 speed front derailleur on an 8 speed drivetrain. It is the shifter that controls how far the derailleur moves on each click. The 9 speed derailleur cag will be just a hair narrower then the 8 speed cage, so it might be a wee bit more finicky to set up with your thicker 8 speed chain, but it won't prevent you from being able to use it.
