8spd Deore LX Fr Shifter - missing one shift

  1. Its not possible to shift to largest chainring. the '96 LX shifter 8spd just doesn't seem to want to
    "catch". I can shift from small to middle and back. I've taken it apart and have noticed a piece of
    metal preventing the claw from entering the ratchet. this piece doesn't seem to look out of place or
    loose though....anyone else have experiences with this?

    That's how those die.

    A top shifter is only $9.95 with a cable.

    A top shifter de-shimano-izes half your gear train, too! You'll get the more-responsive Ergo-like
    benefits of genuine friction shifting!

    Or another Shimano shifter. Or a G/S shifter.
