89 Specialized Rock Combo

I have one. in a 19" frame. It is not complete but what's there is in good shape. I have the orig stem, seatpost, ft derailleur, rear derailleur, Ft & Rr Brakes., wheels, and bottom bracket. headset, drop bars. Basically I have everything but the crankset, brake levers and shifters and seat
I am the original owner. I have rode it quite a bit but never abused it, converted it to flat bars for about half the time I've had it. Frame is straight and no dents and has never been in an accident.

It would make a wonderful loaded 26" tourer. That's what I was going to do with it if I kept it but I have 5 other bikes so it now sits in it's semi-disassembled state...lol

Right in line with what I am looking for.

How much do you want for it?
I usually do pay pal and pay for shipping via fed ex.

Let me know

Thanks

Kevin

Kevin I would ask $200 for it. I know you can usually pick up Stumpjumpers and Rockhopper Comps from that era for around $100 on Craigslist nowdays, but Spec only made the RockCombo for that one year. The difference from the Stumpys and Rockhopper frames was that the RockCombo had a 72 degree head angle where others had 71degree head angles. So it is a much quicker front end especially with the original drop bars. Almost like a road bike. it is basically like a 26" wheel cyclocross bike.

I dont have a Pay Pal account as I stopped buying stuff from Ebay along time ago. I usually buy stuff new straight from online retailers so I have not needed Pay Pal.

My wife manages a UPS Store so everything gets shipped from there at straight cost.

Thanks

Are you still interested in selling the rock combo?

If so, lets discuss price.

I bought a very very nice one and had it shipped from Moses Lake Wa for 250.00

Thanks

Kevin

Wow, I wished you had gotten back to me earlier, as I did not hear anything from you after our initial conversations. In the meantime I have stripped the Rockcombo down to make a single speed out of it.
I am wondering why if you have bought a nice one from a person in Washington why would you still be looking for another?

Mike,

I actually have 5 and simply have a fondness for this particular model.
In 1989 I bought two in Colorado and used one as my "Crit" bike for the CORS offroad series.
It worked great for Nordic center type races and after losing several minutes each year on Humbug Hill, I could make up the time in the "Crit.
Plus it was a gas keeping up with many roadies on rides as they looked at it as a mountain bike.

Anyway, both were stolen, one in Breckenridge and one in Houston.
Bottom line is I am trying to keep them from being butchered up and If the Bridgestone XO's are fetching 1600.00, the Rock Combo may eventually become a cult bike and be worth something. Not that the money is the issue, but the love of this particular bike means a lot to me.

Thanks and let me know if you want to sell yours.

Kevin
