I need to replace my triple crankset. I have an 8 speed drivetrain and a relatively new square shimano spindle BB. I am looking for a decent quality and not too exhorbitantly priced (say Shimano 105 level) triple. The current offerings all seem to be "10 speed" . Ideally I would keep my current BB, but expect that I may need to replace it also. What triple could I use that would be compatible with the 8 speed chain? Any suggestions? Thanks!

For 8 speed I use Sugino cranksets, they are good quality and quite cheap.

9 speed crank will work with 8 speed components. Tiagra triple uses a square spindle BB or you could get a 9 speed 105 or higher but would need to upgrade to an octalink BB. Check eBay, there are tons of of them out there.

Sugino XD600; versatility, quality, affordability. Buy from Sheldon Brown/Harris Cyclery or many other places on the web.
