  1. Second race in the series. The first one a couple of weeks ago
was easy trails witth some rolling hills. This one, at Rattlesnake
Point Conservation Area west of Toronto, was very different.
Up and down the escarpment stepping from rock to rock.
    Sometimes slipping. Whew.

Hot and humid today so I drank up plenty before the start.
Even ate some salty crackers. 14K for the long run.

This is the first long race I've run in the heat. Sometimes
during it I had doubts if I was going to be able to finish
it running. But I did. One thing that has come out of this
is the knowledge that doing a 50K in July would be
ill-advised for me. I'm positive I would end up walking.
    Not much point in that.

Back to the race. 300 started with me at the back as usual.
After the line spread out a bit I started working
my way up to where I belong (back of the middle pack).
I traded position with a much younger lady for a while
until she showed me that she was my better. Then I used
her as my pace bunny. The leaders were FLYING thru
the rock sections! Taking BIG chances. Not me.
    Walking was fine there.

Finished with a run across an open field to the usual
clapping of those who finished before me. Chowed down
and tried to re-hydrate and find a place to sit in the shade.
    ...thehick
