My ride was recorded with Strava and was ridden on a mostly rural course with limited traffic lights and some stop signs. Elevation gain over the course was 1500 feet and I finished in 1:14:30 (21.1 mph avg.). Riding a CAAD 8 8C with no aerobars. Strava estimated power at 223 watts over the course. I just started riding in mid May. Are these promising numbers? Will begin racing Cat 5 next year for the first time. Will I be getting my ass kicked?

Not bad at all. Riding more than 20 mph on a stock road bike and with stop signs and traffic interruptions is good fast riding. It wouldn't put you on the podium of most 40k state time trials but it's a very good starting point for building race fitness.
Keep up the work, keep doing time trial like efforts even if they're the more typical 2x20 style Threshold efforts (backed off enough to complete a pair or even a trio of them during normal weekly training instead of carving out a special day to go extra hard). And keep riding. Also if you're not doing so already, find a group to ride with as bike handling skills, pack riding confidence, and learning to deal with the bursty dynamics of pack riding may be even more important than raw power for a new racer in the Cat 5s.
