  1. Is it possible to reply to a message after it's "expired"?

    I don't know how.

Anyways, the title of this post is the same as one I created a long time ago. I believe it will
automatically go to that message and not start a new thread.

The point of the original post was to discuss a supposedly unique 4-beat kick that Phelps used in
his I.M. race against Eric Vendt a while back. I had renewed interest in that race because someone
had pointed out that Phelps lets his I.M. competitors back into the race with his somewhat weak
breastroke leg. So I downloaded the video from the usa-swimming website.

Anyways, being a bit older and more experienced, I looked at his kick again. It's not new or unique.
It's the exact same 4-beat rhythm that Grant Hackett uses. It looked a bit different because Phelps
doesn't glide on his right side at all. That's simply because he's sprinting 100 meters while
    Hackett is swimming 1500m.

But the features of each mans 4-beat kick are identical: hit a left downbeat while reaching forward
with the left arm and breathing. Hit a quick right to maintain momentum while breathing. Bring the
right arm around quick (catch-up stroke on the breathing side as always) so that the next left
downbeat on the leg conincides with the reach on the right side. (maintains momentum at a crucial
part of the stroke.) Glide a bit if you're tired (I always am!) and then hit the final right during
the pull on the right. Voila, same, same.

    Eric
