I come up with 1 lb of fat = 4082.3316 calories.
Now, if a troy pound were used, then it would be 373.2417 grams, which would equal 3359.1753 calories. This makes more sense, but why would a troy pound be used to measure tissue? The troy pound, or ounce per se, is obsolete, except when measuring precious metals.

As I remember, oils have about 8.81 kkals/gram, carbs and protein are both about 8.85 kkals/gram. But these numbers are averages, others will vary a little depending on individual measurements.
I'm sure there are "theoretically" correct amounts of these energies, that all meaurements and estimates should be close to. Anybody?

The sizzle in bacon comes from its water.
Take and weigh some bacon that's low in meat, leave it exposed at low or no heat to expel the water through evaporation, and reweigh it. That should indicate an estimate of its water content. Human fat is probably similar enough to some fatty bacon or salt pork.
