I'd recommend holding out for the 32 hole rim, but if you
decide to do this anyway you might find my recent article
about mismatched hubs/rims useful:

In your case, you might end up with a lacing pattern such as
crows foot, with four groups of three spokes on each side of
the hub. Probably a number of other patterns are possible.

No, but really, you've got a 32-hole hub that is really,
really expensive. Do the right thing and get the cheapest
32-hole rim you can find (may be $0 if, like me, you drag
home every bicycle part you ever see in the trash). When you
have enough money to buy the rim of your dreams (not very
expensive), you will be happy in the knowledge that you
didn't rip the flanges off your $700 hub, and can now
trivially build the wheel you wanted. Patience is a virtue.

I know virtues aren't very popular right now, and Britney
keeps saying it's okay to be [censored] and Pepsi keeps telling
you to drink more cola, but trust me on this: stop staring
at Britney, drink diluted orange juice instead, and build
the powertap with a 32-hole rim.

In my opinion, if you want to run a 24 hole rim on a 32-hole
rim, why not just buy a 32-hole rim (mavic open pro's are
$42 with a 10% and 20% discount at nashbar this week), and
then go get some exotic 16/17 gauge titanium spokes
(www.branfordbike) that will break all the time, in order to
get that "exotic 24-hole feeling" on your 32-hole rim ??
That should satisfy all your urges to waste money ...

p.s. anyone got a 32hole deep section rim they wanna sell?

What's wrong with 16 spokes 2X on the right, 8 spokes 1X
on the left? This works fine as long as the holes in the
rim are not offset (and they usually are not offset on a
deep section rim). It also helps to equalize left/right
spoke tension.
