20yd vs 25yd conversion times

  1. We swim with a summer rec conference during the summer,
    and 2 of the 20+ pools are only 20yd vs 25yd.

    In setting up Hy-Tek Meet Manager,
    the pools are using the "non-conforming factor"
    to handle the difference in pool length... and appear as 25yd pools.

    For all the events, this appears to work fine,
    and for specific 100yd individual events,
    the timer numbers are manually converted down...
    so that when entered, they will properly up-convert when printed.

    Anyway - my question is -
    For any other folks swimming a 20yd pool,
    what non-conforming conversion factor do you use ??

    Should the manual conversion for a 5 length event (20x5=100yd real)
    be the same factor since the event includes another flip turn...
    Just wondering how a consistent swimmer's times would reflect
    a freestyle of 4 x 25yd vs 5 x 20yd as a "standard" ?
    Since this is just a recreational conference,
    I don't think they need to differenciate conversion factors between the
    different strokes...

    Here are the notes from the person handling the Meet Manager setup.
    ----------------------

    We use the non-conforming factor of 1.3 vs the math equal of 1.25...

    For the real 100 yard events the swimmers swim 5 lengths,
    so we manually back out the conversion factor.

    To back out the factor for the 100yd events with 5 lengths;
    1) use the actual 20yd time given from the timers
    2) convert it to seconds
    (for example, 1:13.48 would be converted to 73.48)
    3) divide the number by 1.3 (73.48 / 1.3 = 56.52)
    4) convert the time back to minutes (56.52 would be 56.52)
    5) enter this time into MM (56.52)
    6) when printed on reports, exported to results, or printed on ribbons,
    the 56.52 is multiplied by the 1.3 factor to display the real 73.48
    (1:13.48)

    As for the 100 IMs and all other events, no manual adjusting is needed.
    To help us remember to do the above steps, we highlight the events that
    need manual adjusting on the Lane/Timer sheets.
    The converted time for all events prints on the ribbons and reports.
