Hi all,
I'm new here, but wanted some advice from more experienced people than myself.
For some background, I have been biking seriously for about 5-6 months. When I decided to get serious, I bought a used CAAD9 SRAM Rival w/ carbon fork and some other upgrades. Its served me really well, bringing me from a serious lagger in my groups to now one of the fastest.
I'm really interested in racing, and did my first race 2 weeks ago and did well. In general, I suffer pretty badly after long rides with my back hurting and have been told I should go carbon to help w/ comfort.
That's a lot of background - but I'm debating buying a used 2010 Hi Mod SuperSix with mostly SRAM Red and cheap-ish wheels. It looks like it's in great condition and rode very well for me.
My question is - is the upgrade the right choice? Is carbon worth such a quick upgrade (considerations on Comfort, Stiffness, Durability etc). I'm nervous about buying a used carbon bike and unsure if buying a 2-3 yr old bike is the right choice. I know it retailed ~7000 (with different parts) when purchased and is a great frame. The sale price is $1800.
Any thoughts on whether this would be a good buy and a good price?
