I'm looking for an entry level road bike just for exercise and long sunday rides. Currently I only have a mountain bike, which is a killer on the pavement. I was planning on getting the Jamis Satellite, but then I came across bikesdirect.com and found this Motobecane Sprint. It's a little more than the Jamis, but I'm wondering if I should go for it because it has better components (I don't know a lot about bikes at this point, but from what I've been reading, the Ultegra line is pretty good, right?). I really don't have much to spend, and this bike would be pushing my limit. But if it's much better than the Jamis, I'm willing to use my credit card :-) Any advice would be appreciated!

I bought the Sprint about a month ago and have been very pleased. It does have a more agressive stance than some of the more recreational bikes- you can try a fuji robiaux or a specialized allez for the feel/geometry. I got a 56cm frame... all built (with pedals, computer and light) it weighed in at 19.75 pounds on a bathroom scale. The seat is low end and the pedals are nothing special but those are quick and easy upgrades whenever you desire. The other components were exactly as advertised- ultegra shifters/derailleurs, truvativ crank/chainring, vuelta wheels.
It took about an hour to set up up the bike when it arrived. A short test ride to tune the front derailleur and brakes and it was good to go. (I am handy but by no means a bike mechanic- I checked with a couple local shops to make sure they'd put it together if I ran into trouble. Both were happy to and quoted about $70 (price of a major tune). Overall, I am quite happy with the purchase, it came in about $400 less than the closest configuration (Fuji at Performance)
