Are you asking whether a 9-speed wheel will fit in the frame? If so, the
answer's yes. Mountain bike rear ends standardized at 135mm in the 7-speed
days. A 9-speed cassette will also fit on an 8-speed freehub, and vice
versa. You need a 9-speed shifter to index a 9-speed cassette.James Thomson
