I am looking for a used bike to begin riding and after looking through Craigslist near me I am talking with someone who has a 1996 Specialized A1 with a bike rack and is asking $300 for the bike. It looks clean from the pics and I looked up the specs and the original MSRP and it seems like a good deal but is the bike "just to old" to think about buying now and if not is the price good? I am new to biking so I'm not sure. Thanks very much in advance for any responses.

There's several diiferent models in the Specialized A1 ( roadbikes, mountain bikes, etc ) group, so the original MSRP depends on which model it was.

You might try searching on ebay to see if you can find any bikes like that and what the selling price was. It will also depend on what condition the bike is in and you have the added variable of the the bike rack.....
