  1. 141 p.s.i. is the 2nd Annual Portland Stage Ironman (Oregon)

Friday 6/3 - swim 5000 yards at your favorite pool; Saturday 6/4 - do
the Portland Wheelmen's Spring Century www.pwtc.org - don't forget to
    add 12 miles ! - you have to enter this by May 24 to get a discount;
Sunday - 26.2 miles around Hagg Lake starting 8 am Parking Lot C - you
have to buy a park pass

"This is a pretty good workout."

We moved the run from last year's Champoeg State Park course because it
was too easy and boring. Dead flat.

Mark 141 on your left calf - see you there !

  2. The proper link is www.pwtc.com for the spring century.

  3. If you overinflate your tires to this level, you are asking for a
    blowout.

"I used to rock and roll all night,
    and party every day.
Then it was every other day. . . ."
    -Homer J. Simpson

  4. FYI, if you swim 5000 yards that will make it actually longer than an
Ironman. 141.04 versus 140.6. I would suggest swimming closer to 4225
yards (or 3875m) But then again, that's probably why they call it the
    141 p.s.i. ;-)

  5. Andrew,

You got it right. Also, there was a need to overcome the wussy factor
of trying to match 2.4 miles of open water with a pool swim, with calm
water, a line on the bottom, and many turns. In the end, the option was
chosen to bump it up to 5000 yards. Plus it made the math easier. That
can be a factor after a 100 flip turns or so.
Of course, you are still left with the wussy factor that this isn't a
real ironman, ... it's just a pretty good workout. It's not like I'm
gonna tattoo my leg after this or anything ;-)
