We moved the run from last year's Champoeg State Park course because it was too easy and boring. Dead flat.
FYI, if you swim 5000 yards that will make it actually longer than an Ironman. 141.04 versus 140.6. I would suggest swimming closer to 4225 yards (or 3875m) But then again, that's probably why they call it the 141 p.s.i. ;-)

You got it right. Also, there was a need to overcome the wussy factor of trying to match 2.4 miles of open water with a pool swim, with calm water, a line on the bottom, and many turns. In the end, the option was chosen to bump it up to 5000 yards. Plus it made the math easier. That can be a factor after a 100 flip turns or so. Of course, you are still left with the wussy factor that this isn't a real ironman, ... it's just a pretty good workout. It's not like I'm gonna tattoo my leg after this or anything ;-)
