I have recently signed upto a 10km cancer research run, the race is on May 8th.
I was just wondering if you have any tips which could help reduce my time, I did a 10km run last year, finishing with a time of 48mins....I know there is plenty room for improvement.
I have been running about 4km 3 times a week for 3 weeks now.....I was wondering if I should step this up and try to train for 10km each time I go a run.

If you started running just 3 weeks before I think you should not step that up for some time. The above sites also will give you the idea about how to inrease training volume.
You definitely should not run 10K or more every run if that is what you mean. Again the sites will give you the general idea.
