#1 team in Cross

No question about Lynn, but she is Canadian, so we're screwed at
Worlds. We will will have a deeper competition, but Natz will likely
be without Page due to its usual December date (major world cup races
too close). Sadly, I think its all moot unless we get these guys over
there for the month prior to Worlds. Even then I think its all moot.

I know most are resigned to Nationals never moving from December, but
from a training & peaking standpoint it will need to. Look at Jesse
Anthony, clearly better than anyone his age and almost better than most
others older. The kid dominates Nationals and doesn't do anything at
Worlds. He's got the talent, but he's flying at Natz, how can he be
flying 6 weeks later? Its possible, but improbable, even if he races
that whole month. Page is probably a bit overdone by the time Worlds
comes, but I doubt he has peaked for Natz. Why would he? In the right
conditions he'll definitely win, in others he'll probably win. Ironic
he's not the highest ranked US rider, because he's the best and picks
up points against guys that are better.

All that aside, I think Johnson has more raw talent, but lacks the
focus for cross. I still like JP's approach best and thinks he's still
our guy at World's.

Any question if Lyne win Can. Nats.? I don't think so. Gonna be a
dogfight on the men's side though between Tim, Page, Wells, Kabush
etc... I think the competitionon the men's side is going to be lot
deeper. Lot's of solid young riders coming up too.
We still ain't got [censored] on the Euros but it's coming.

Lyne was laughably ahead of her the field. The mens race was much more
even, with 5 guys riding in contention. Trebon was up in front until
he slid down one of the off-cabre mud hills and into the tape (tangled
and a little banged up). It seemed Barry Wicks had it wrapped with his
gap with a couple to go, but Decker made a huge move that put Kabush
and Johnson into trouble trying to respond. He caught Wicks, then
Wicks crashed putting Decker off alone. It seemed the best guy won as
Decker was just motoring on the flatter power sections.

The weather wasn't an issue for the Elite race - we got all that in the
B's race as we saw some incredibly powerful rain, followed by some
midwest style hail.
